REAL ESTATE - gone but not forgotten
Houses with names rather than street addresses describe the portfolio of homes in the real estate collection assembled by Richard over the years. Vacation homes are located in many of the most popular tourist destinations including the Bahamas, the Caribbean, Florida, and the Florida Keys. Vacation rentals range in rates from $59 per night to over $3,000 per night as some of the luxury Villa rentals are located on the north coast of the Dominican Republic where Richard has lived for over 18 years. In addition to his portfolio of vacation properties, Richard is the founding father of the SG Resorts Travel & Vacation Club which offers luxury private residences for rent all over the world at prices nobody can believe. Better properties than Airbnb at better rates.
FINANCE & INSURANCE -gone but not forgotten
Richard started building his financial empire after leaving the public school system as a math teacher and later a special Ed teacher. Richard's dream in life was to become a school teacher but the drive inside of him kept him motivated and inspired to do more although teaching was his first love and passion. Teaching gave Richard a lifetime of memories and great pleasure that most people in the business world would not understand. While a school teacher, Richard worked nights selling life insurance for the Equitable Life of NY and soon became a top salesman ranked in the United States. Richard was working under the radar because the Insurance Company did not permit part-time agents and eventually Richard was forced to make a decision between teaching or a career in the Insurance Industry. Richard made the first and most difficult decision in his business career and elected to give up teaching to follow a path in the business world as an insurance executive
In 1986, Richard move to NJ where he met Kikis A. Kyriacou who turned out to be his lifelong business partner. Kikis & Richard created SIR SERVICES-NY, Inc. in 1987 and set up operations on the 79th floor of the World Trade Center where they maintained corporate offices from 1988 until the tragic day on 911. Richard & Kikis started with nothing other than a business plan, a dream, and a desire to exceed. Fast forward and success were there for them with SIR SERVICES where they became the first Federal Risk Purchasing Group in NYC dedicated to the inner city landlords of NY. Today, SIR maintains a corporate office on Wall Street and underwriting offices in NJ.
It was about 20 some years ago that Richard met and soon became business partners with Mark Rosenstein in a factoring company by the name of Bridgeport Capital Services (BCS). Bridgeport went through many years of ups and downs but today BCS is one of the most financially sound and successful privately-held factoring companies in America.
HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY - gone but not forgotten
2021 UPDATE
Richard became involved in the hospitality industry shortly after purchasing a condo unit at the Hollywood Beach Resort on Hollywood Beach, Florida where Richard grew up as a child. Richard tells stories of how he would ride his bike over the Hollywood Blvd Bridge and wonder what it was like at the historic hotel that was once the crown jewel of Hollywood Beach and one of the last remaining historic properties in the City of Hollywood.
Shortly after buying his condo, Richard became aware of the corruption at the property between the various entities fighting for the control and purse strings of the Condo Association. Richard soon discovered that the HBR required help to end the corruption and self-dealing between the Condo Board, Hotel Operator, Condo Management Company, and Mall Owner. The property was a mess and the hotel was full of beach bums, questionable ladies of the night, drug dealers, and other undesirables. It was at this point in his life, that Richard became a CONDO COMMANDO and took up the mission to clean up the corruption that seems to flourish in most if not many South Florida Condominiums and especially at the Hollywood Beach Resort Hotel Owners Association. Richard accepted the challenge and went from being a single condo owner in a resort complex to buying the hotel company, creating a condo management company, and taking over the beach bar known as O'Malley's. Richard became the anchor tenant to the Mall Owner who later turned around and screwed Richard and his companies as exemplified by the horrific condition of the Hollywood Beach Resort today. Richard turned the property from a pink hotel with Murphy beds getting $25 per night to a Ramada National Franchise only to have what he built destroyed by those who wanted what Richard created without doing anything to earn it or pay for it. Today the HBR is a place that needs another Richard and it is a property that Richard devoted almost 30 years of his life to fix only to see if crumble due to the greed and self-serving interest of some very bad people.
SUCCESS & FAILURE
Richard's Track Record of success is everywhere except the Hollywood Beach Resort. In 2018 Richard refused
to fund the operations of the Hotel forcing his son out of business fueled by the conditions of the property, the corruption
of the Condo Board Members, and the lack of ownership pride by the Condo Owners who are still waiting for someone to do
something. It's "Goodbye Hollywood Beach Resort" as Richard has given up trying to help helpless people who appear too stupid
to even try to help themselves.
MIAMI BEACH - FLORIDA KEYS - BAHAMAS - DOMINICAN REPUBLIC
In 2018 Richard Sr and Richard Jr are working to develop and improve their Casablanca Hotel on Miami Beach and are
re-branding their Sixty Sixty Resort into Casablanca West. Million Dollar renovations and property improvements are
underway as the Schecher Family looks toward the future with the New Casablanca on the Ocean along with several
other new vacation properties in the Florida Keys, Bahamas, and the Dominican Republic.
SG RESORTS TRAVEL & VACATION CLUB | 5,000 Resorts Worldwide | Members Only
In 2018 Richard Sr and Richard Jr are also expanding their Travel & Vacation Club using Richard Sr's lifetime experience
as an insurance executive providing Group Benefits to Corporations to create the Nation's first "LIVING BENEFITS"
A program that makes taking a vacation affordable for the 42% of the American workforce that receives paid vacation time but
do not go on vacation because they claim, "they can't afford it". Living Benefits in the form of affordable vacations for every
working man and woman in America or the world for that matter.
A FEW WORDS OF WISDOM
Over the years Richard has made several individuals a financial success and has even created a couple of multi-millionaires. Richard always welcomes the opportunity to help those seeking his mentoring on business-related matters as well as personal issues like how best to live life and enjoy yourself in a crazy mixed-up world. Richard is on record stating the only thing he really does for people is to provide them with guidance and an opportunity to help themselves. Giving money only places a band-aid on a problem and is no better than putting air in a flat tire before you patch the hole.
